14th EFAD Congress - Preliminary Programme is out

EFAD feels privileged to organize THE pan-European dietetic congress. Over the past years, EFAD brought fundamental topics to the table to endorse the dietetic workforce and showcase nutrition and dietetics on the map with the WHO and other key stakeholders. The Budapest resolution (2022) enabled EFAD to show its impact in Europe as the future story for dietitians unfolds.

This year’s theme is “Dietetic care, a human right: moving forward into a new era’’.

The two-day scientific programme is being finalised, and it will offer all the latest evidence-based information on nutrition and dietetics across the lifespan. New topics have been integrated within the program, including Equality, diversity, and inclusion in dietetics and a holistic approach to healthcare.

WHO Europe asks EFAD to be part of the expert meeting in Tajikistan

Tajikistan is currently facing a double burden of malnutrition, which includes both undernutrition and obesity.

In July 2022, the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan asked WHO for support in the area of nutrition. This mission will provide focus on three key areas: surveillance of nutritional status among children (The WHO European Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative), capacity-building and collaboration.

At the capacity-building meeting for better nutrition, that took place last February, EFAD actively contributed to the experts' panel. EFAD's Executive Director Wineke Remijnse shared the good practices and Europe's paradigm to identify immediate, medium-term, and longer-term next steps.

Association Between Sustainability and Cancer – Recent Literature Analysis and Indication of Points for Improvement

Unhealthy diets, the rise of non-communicable diseases, and the declining health of the planet are highly intertwined, where food production and consumption are major drivers of increases in greenhouse gas emissions, substantial land use, and adverse health such as cancer and mortality. To assess the potential co-benefits from shifting to more sustainable diets, we aimed to investigate the associations of dietary greenhouse gas emissions and land use with all-cause and cause-specific mortality and cancer incidence rates.
