🍽 FEED Europe, Food Security Education & Empowerment for Dietitians is an exciting, upcoming EFAD Learning project aimed at equipping dietitians with the knowledge and resources to effectively combat food insecurity, a critical and widespread issue across Europe. We understand the impact this challenge has on millions of individuals and families.

Before we dive into creating educational content, we want to tailor it to your needs and address the knowledge gaps around this topic. Your insights are crucial in shaping the success of this initiative, therefore we ask you to take just 10 minutes to participate in our survey in which we explore:

The 17th Hellenic Dietetic Association Congress

The 17th Hellenic Congress of Nutrition and Dietetics, under the overarching theme “Access to Nutritional Care is a Human Right,” successfully convened to showcase the latest scientific insights and practices in the dynamic field of Nutrition and Dietetics, last December at the Athens Concert Hall.

With a remarkable turnout of over 2000 attendees, the event featured 123 oral presentations and drew significant engagement with 1618 participants in tutorials, highlighting the interest and momentum of the event.

Many EFAD Representatives, such as EFAD's Vice President, Grigoris Risvas, actively participated in the event.

15th February - International Childhood Cancer Day

International Childhood Cancer Day is a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the survivors, and their families.

EFAD ESDN Oncology Committee quoted: "As dedicated oncology dietitians, we persist in our unwavering commitment to enhance nutritional care and provide support for children grappling with a cancer diagnosis."

ENDietS has just launched the Pan-European Survey of Nutrition and Dietetics Education: Insights into Curriculum, Support, and Satisfaction. This survey aims to uncover the current state of nutrition and dietetics education across Europe, evaluate existing curricula, and explore students’ aspirations for the future and support needs.

Beating Cancer Inequalities in the EU: Spotlight on cancer prevention and early detection

This analytical report of the European Cancer Inequalities Registry, prepared in collaboration with the OECD, addresses the latest trends in cancer incidence and mortality in the EU and reviews key cancer risk factors, cancer screening programmes and early diagnoses. It examines policies and actions to tackle cancer across the EU27, Norway and Iceland, with a specific focus on addressing preventable risk factors and improving the reach of screening and early diagnosis to counter disconcerting cancer trends and inequalities.

Launch of the Swedish version of the report "In Your Face – About Children’s Food Environment and Exposure to Food Advertisements

Researchers at Karolinska Institutet have mapped how children are exposed to outdoor advertisements for food to better understand their food environment. The results are presented in a report produced by UNICEF Sweden and the Heart Lung Foundation, showing that advertising is dominated by ultra-processed foods.

Consumer perceptions unwrapped: ultra-processed foods

A new pan-European study from the EIT Food Consumer Observatory reveals that consumers across Europe are concerned about the impact of ultra-processed foods on their health. Yet, a lack of awareness, understanding, and means are preventing people from making informed, healthy choices.

The "Consumer perceptions unwrapped: Ultra-processed Foods" report also makes a series of recommendations to food authorities, manufacturers, and retailers to support consumers in making informed decisions.
