EFAD's visit to hospital Gelderse Vallei's innovative meal service

The visit by EFAD's Executive Director, Wineke Remijnse, and Daniel Buchholz to the Hospital Gelderse Vallei's "Care with Good Nutrition" meal service, the past summer, showcased the potential for healthcare facilities to elevate their approach to nutrition and patient care.

The emphasis on delicious, protein-enriched meals, coupled with the dedication of the hospital's staff and the critical role of dietitians, sets an inspiring example.

Hungary joins ONCA Alliance during the 14th EFAD Congress opening session

During its inaugural day, the 14th EFAD congress will stage the official launch of the Hungarian ONCA Alliance, recognizing and celebrating the strong and enduring partnership between ONCA and EFAD. Hungary's participation will mark a significant milestone, as it becomes the 20th country to join the ONCA campaign.

Primary Healthcare Service: Important Support for the Patient at Home

Individuals living with cancer often experience multiple nutrition-related side effects from cancer treatment, including changes in taste and smell, nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and pain during eating. These side effects can profoundly impact nutritional status and quality of life. The purpose of this study was to explore experiences with nutrition-related cancer treatment side effects among cancer patients and their family caregivers, the way they manage such side effects, and the resulting changes in food preferences and behaviors.

Perspective: Food and Nutrition Insecurity in Europe: Challenges and Opportunities for Dietitians

In recent years, the interest in food and nutrition insecurity in high-income countries has skyrocketed. However, its recognition in Europe is still developing. This perspective summarizes the evidence on food and nutrition insecurity across Europe in terms of prevalence, consequences, and current mitigation strategies, with the aim of outlining the challenges and opportunities for dietitians.

EUFIC - In the news: do ultra-processed foods increase the risk of heart disease and stroke?

Recent news stories have reported that eating ultra-processed food increases the risk of heart attack and stroke, based on results from two new research studies. The use of the degree of processing of foods as an indicator of their healthfulness is a hotly debated topic in nutrition and food science.
